First murder of 2009 in Fresno

Monday Update: Police have identified the victim in Saturday night's fatal shooting as 20-year-old Robert Owens of Fresno. Police say more than 200 people were at the party where the shooting happened, but only one witness has come forward. If you have any information call Crimestoppers at 498-STOP.

Police are looking for information in the first murder in Fresno in 2009. It happened Saturday night shortly before midnight in the parking lot of the Quality Inn at Ashland and 99. An eyewitness tells KSEE 24 News that a birthday party was being held inside the banquet room at the motel when an argument broke out and someone started shooting.
Police say a 20-year-old African American man was killed. His identity has not been released. Police say they need any information they can get on the shooting to help solve the crime.
