Update on Shields Avenue Closure

By KSEE News

Update: Shields Avenue between Fresno and First Streets has reopened after being shut down since 3:30 a.m. because of a fatal single car crash.

According to Fresno Police Sgt. Dave Gibeault, one car was traveling west on Shields at a high rate of speed, when the car veered off the road, went up on the median, and hit a tree. The car then burst into flames. Police confirm at least two people were killed. The car is so badly burned, police have not determined whether the victims were male or female, or if there were more than two people in the car.
