By KSEE News

More than a dozen men and women of the Valley held a news conference Thursday morning at Fresno's Fashion Fair Mall. They announced a campaign to encourage local buying with an education website on the benefits of keeps sales tax dollars at home.

Organizers said sales tax from every local purchase helps to pay for services such as fire protection, law enforcement, education and street maintenance. The Buy Local campaign is designed to motivate buyers to spend money at area businesses, whether they be "big box retailer" or locally owned and operated shops.

The Buy Local campaign spans the Valley's six counties and includes multi-lingual messaging, including English, Spanish, Hmong and Sikh.

if fresno had products we need and wanted, this would be great! but many have had to get products that were once here, on line( evelyn crabtree comes to mind for shaving needs ).other items are bought on line by people who move here from other places. thats what you do, when where you live does not supply your life style or profession.
