Firework sales fizzle in bad economy

It's a 4th of July tradition in the Central Valley. Local schools, organizations, and charities sell fireworks to raise funds. But, this year, every fireworks stand we talked to had the same story. So far, sales are down. It comes at a time when donations in general are down because of the slow economy. Many of the groups that have set up fireworks stands are hoping that as we get closer to the holiday, sales will pick up.

They've been a rip-off for years...add that to the fact that this state is so wimpy and over regulated, it's not worththe price or the effort...I reccommend you take your money and leave California...it's a sinking ship.

Canton, China is where the best fireworks can be bought. You definately get a bigger & better bang for your buck.

Well, the fireworks really aren't of good quality anyway and they expect us to pay outrageous prices for watered down fireworks that produce and insane amount of smoke. Canton is where the good stuff is.

I really dont blame the economy just the State of California. We are paying more and more for the fireworks and they are getting cheaper and cheaper.
