More than 30 cows fall to their death over cliffMore than 30 cows fell to their death off a cliff and into the Fresno river near Coarsegold. Now the lack of action to remove the carcasses is raising concern among neighbors. Some are worried the decomposing bodies could contaminate the drinking water. The rancher who owns the cattle has been trying to remove the cows, but is having a hard time without professional equipment. Madera County environmental health said any threat to water quality is minimal, but they are continuing to look into the situation. Click on the video link to watch the story. The cattle were not without water for a month, they were only there 2 weeks, checked every other day. Tragic things happen in life, both to humans and animals. I am sure the rancher is working as hard as he can to get the calves out of the water. He is probably getting interrupted by media and others making it hard to get the job done. I would bet that the water will be just fine. Non-domesticated animals die all the time, and rott away. It is a tough time for my family and I like to have a piece of these cows. It is really easy to remove if the owner allows. Let me know if the owner allows, i will be the first one to tear up one of the cow. it is very sad situation but when it comes to worse of the worse. This is the right decision. Why do we have to waste all this time? Meat Lover...wink. Tuesday, Aug 18 at 7:05 PM what a pity wrote ...Yes Laura Payne and Anonymous, it's always so easy to cast judgement on others you don't even know and have no clue about. How perfect you must be. And always right too. How nice for you. A private citizen who is not rich like a CEO banker, has suffered a terrible loss. The needed equipment is not easy to find. Don't you think he's trying? Come on people, you think like brown shirts. Choose your sides a little more thoughtfully or you might get stampeded yourselves sometime. Tuesday, Aug 18 at 12:20 PM whitetornado wrote ...It is believed these cows were stampeded by dogs or coyotes, they fell and were not discovered until they had been dead and decomposing for almost a week so no fresh meat there. As soon as any sick or injured animals were discovered they were euthanised so they did not suffer further. Serious concern remains over the health hazards which could come from this incident. Come on, you should at least some penalty for it. You are an animal cruelty. These animals knew the danger is, the can't just jump off the cliff. Come on people, it is commonsense. These animals were died because they were dehydrated. I think, the DA should look into this matter. It gets on my nervous when something isn't right.
