Eddie Aubrey was chosen by a selection committee to head the Office of Independent Review.

"This has been a long and arduous process that we have gone through," said Police Chief Jerry Dyer.

The city took six months to decide who would be a perfect fit for the department. Aubrey comes with a lot of experience as a former police officer, lawyer, and judge.

Aubrey will be charged with reviewing policies and procedures by the police department. He will also take a closer look at all officer-involved shootings. Currently there are 11 such shootings in this year alone.

Aubrey will also look at use-of-force cases. The auditor told KSEE-24 that he will be auditing the recent police beating involving two police officers and a homeless man.

Police Chief Dyer says the goal is to improve the police department's image in the community.

"Trust is really important so that everyone can trust the process it's going through," said Aubrey.

Aubrey will be joined by two staff members. Aubrey will get paid $107,000 annually. His first day will be November 30th.

Aubrey will review policies and procedures of the Fresno Police Department.

This position will not work unless the auditor has the power to investigate, officer involved shooting and other incidents. I am an ex-police ofcr and some of the shootings in Fresno from what I have learned look to me as murder. Good Luck people of Fresno.

I believe in our officers and I get tired of the community complaining! Since the community just likes to complain and bad mouth our officers then I feel that the community should deal with their problems and not get the security of police... so once they see how it is to not have police to protect them maybe they will stop complaining....Get a life people! You wont complain once your a victim of a crime and need police assistance!!!!!!!

The fact that police Thief Dyer had any say in who was chosen is enough for me to believe that this man is a joke. Don't be surprised when the PD is found innocent and even more people then ever before start mistrusting Fresno PD

Only time will tell if he is or isn't impartial. One strike, x-cop, now was that as a PD or DA type of atty? Ball or strike two... as a Judge...um,
