Fort Hood Shooting Update: Suspect Still Alive

6:30PM UPDATE: The military now says the suspect, Major Nadal Malik Hasan, is still alive, and under arrest at a nearby hosptial.

The Military has confirmed that the gunman who killed 12 soldiers and wounded 31 more at Fort Hood, in Texas, was a fellow soldier.

Sources have identified the shooter as 39 year old Nadal Malik Hasan, and army psychiatrist just promoted to the rank of Major in July. As a doctor, he treated others for combat stress.

The Pentagon says the shooting began at a personnel and medical processing center.
