A seven year old boy who was struck by a Central High School basketball coach while out on a bike ride with his father and a sibling, has died from his injuries.

Police say 42-year-old Loren Lebeau hit a father and his two children while they were riding their bikes across Shepherd near Millbrook on Wednesday night.

A two year old child was riding in a seat attached to the fathers bike and the seven year old, Donovan Maldonado, was riding his own bike behind the pair. Police say the boy was dragged a few hundred yards down the street.

Lebeau was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving. Police say he also initially left the scene of the accident but eventually returned.

The father and 2-year-old girl suffered serious injuries.

Donovan Maldonado would have been a second grader at Liberty Elementary School in the fall.
