Vietnam vet Clifford Finch, who became news after a high speed chase and officer involved shooting in 2007, was sentenced to probation and ordered to pay a fine Tuesday morning in Fresno County Superior Court.

The judge sentenced Finch, 60, to five years probation and ordered him to pay a $3900 fine to repair a patrol car that Finch rammed. He must also serve 200 hours of community service.

Finch withdrew his insanity plea October 13 and entered a guilty to the felony crime of assault with a firearm and admitted personal use of a firearm. As part of the plea deal, the district attorney's office agreed t dismiss charges of assault with a firearm on a peace officer and reckless driving. Finch was involved in a high speed chase on September 24, 2007. The chase ended when Finch was shot multiple times by Fresno police.

He could have received up to 14 years in prison for the crime.
