Last month, 15.8% of the workforce in Fresno County was out of a job.
That’s up almost 2% from September.
Jobs have been slashed in almost every sector of the market.
The job seekers KSEE 24 News spoke with fear we’ve yet to hit rock bottom.
The only industry to gain jobs was the educational and health services sector by 500 positions.
Construction and Manufacturing industries lost a combined 45 hundred jobs this year alone.
There is some good news on the job front.
The U.S. Census Bureau is hiring between 3,000 and 4,500 temporary workers.
The openings are all across the Valley, in Merced, Madera, Fresno, Tulare and Kings County.
Pay ranges from $11.25/hour to $16.50/hour, depending on the position.
