Fresno Council Discusses Budget Cuts

By KSEE News

The Fresno City Council met Monday to discuss the Mayor Ashley Swearengin’s plan to fix the city’s $28 million budget shortfall.
The plan calls for 125 layoffs, mandatory furloughs and the closure of two fire stations.
One by one, department managers were grilled by council members on the impact the cuts would have.
Mayor Swearengin says action needs to be taken quickly before the deficit gets bigger.
A decision to approve the layoffs could come Monday.
If that happens, layoff notices will be sent early this week.

Well it seems our city is broke. Yet we are repairing roads and streets that dont need repair and I see 3 people doing the job 1 person can do. So where does the money come from for 3 people to hold a caution sign?

Thats funny, 120 of those layoffs are coming from the Fresno Police Dept. What type of pay cuts are the mayor and the council taking, or shall I say offering to save the city some money....because the Fresno Police Dept was FORCED to give up their raise, even though it was in the contract.

There are only 320 firefighters in the City of Fresno, not 800.
