Tuesday Update: Chains Still Required on the 41 and the 168

Update: Caltrans is reporting that tire chains are still required on Highway 41 on all vehicles except 4 wheel drive vehicles with snow tires on all 4 tires, from 2 miles north of Big Cedar Springs to a half mile south of Yosemite National Park.

Chains are required on the all vehicles as well from 6.4 miles east of Prather to the east end of Huntington Lake in Fresno County.

Weather spotters 4/5 inches of snow fell at 3000 feet along Highway 49 on Madera and Mariposa Counties.

Deadwood Pass on the 41 was the scene of a 5 car pile up that had the road shut for several hours Monday.

Freezing temperatures keeping the snow from melting. Watch out for icy patches on the 41, the 168 and the 49 in Madera, Fresno and Mariposa Counties through Wednesday.
