Valley Citrus Growers Hopeful

After another tense and chilly night, Valley citrus growers say, their efforts appear to have paid off.
The freezing temperatures had the potential to kill entire crops, but other weather conditions, like cloud cover and consistent breezes helped out.
Frost protection methods are more effective when skies are not clear, which was the case overnight.
Farmers are now focused on how the wet weather will impact their crops, something industry insiders call ice marking.
It takes about a week to determine if ice marking will be a factor.
If the fruit does suffer cosmetic damage the value could drop by as much as $6 a carton.
