Budget Cuts Impact Correctional Officers

Correctional officers will be laid off, and floors will be closed at the Fresno County Jail, where inmates were released as early as last week. While officers at the jail fight for their jobs, it means more work for deputy sheriffs who are also bracing themselves in case layoffs are headed their way.

Her record: satellite jail, South Annex jail floors 3 and 4 North jail 5,all closed laid off 29 officers already and overcharged the courts millions. No idea how to save

Mims patting herself on the back for the deputys giving up stuff to save their jobs but now what are they going to do with the people they arrest waste of time to arrest them she has no place to put them she needs to quit now!

If the courts felt mims was shady and lying wht can't others make her show where's the money being spent. I want to kno wht my tax dollers are going. After all she wants to talk about sales taxes not being enough and yet I believe the holidays jus passed and we had black Friday! People spent money this for Xmas!

This is a joke! Doesn't the board step in and say "open your books it's time for an aduit" the department is tooo TOP HEAVY! She jus admitted tht she gave pramotions bcuz she needs to fill the spot but in Aug she said she closed any open spots to close the budget. SHE'S A LAIR. When these layoffs happen why does the jail still need 2 captns, 8 Ltns, and 30 Sgts. Why not close dwn specail forces? Fresno PD has a gang force why do we need 1? Same with the swat..we can ask for help frm other places

Not really CO related but why not have GPS on sheriff's officers cars? Some may say they are already monitored but I disagree. If they are GPS'd then how is it they can sit parked in one spot practically all afternoon under that tree along the Friant-Kern Canal in the South/East end Orange cove? Not just one of them but two cars even.

well fresno county you got what you voted for. a sheriff that has no idea how to run a dept. good idea she bought those $5,000 stand up scooters a while back for crowd control with all the inmates being released early. put those scooters to use. what a waste of money.

Yes, why is Mims still Sheriff. She obviously has no regard for public safety. Inmates who are being released will have no fear of comitting more crimes since basically what will happen is that they will be arrested if they get caught, processed and sent back out the front door of the jail because there arn't enough CO's to keep them in jail. Mims has been irresponsible to her department and the community. She needs to be relieved from her position IMMEDIATELY!

It seems like EVERY SINGLE TIME Mims is whining about money, the FIRST thing she does is threaten to RELEASE ALL FRESNO COUNTY INMATES ... why does she still have a job???
