Golden Valley USD Considers Major Cuts

Golden Valley Unified School District, in Madera Ranchos, is forced to cut $1.7 million from its budget. That amount represents 15% of the district's budget. During the next several weeks, district officials will consider all possible options to make up the shortfall.

None of the schools within the district are at capacity, so consolidating schools will be considered. No decisions have been made.

I think someone should investigate just how much is spent on administrative services for a district that consists of four schools! It is equal to those districts with over 80 schools...I know where I would begin cuts.

My son attends this school and we as parents have been completely blindsided by this. Maybe channel 24 should come back out and see what we have to say now that we know about it. Would have been nice to have a little heads up rather than hear this on the news. Way to go Sarah Koligian! Why didn't they just leave the school within the Chawanakee school district!
