It certainly seemed like the Sheriff's budget was just about to get under control. Deputy Sheriffs have already agreed to concessions, and correctional officers followed suit, announcing their own concessions prior to Friday's county board meeting. Then, at the meeting, Sheriff Mims announces she's suing the county for overstepping their boundaries. Mims says it's illegal for the board of supervisors to tell her how to do her job.

In reply to rlincoln..yes there are early releases of inmates from state and county jails everywhere, but the difference from that and Fresno County is that the Fresno Jail has the housing to house these inmates..they are only getting out because Mim's isn't gettig all "her" money..and oh yeah SEIU doesn't represent juvenile co's from the justice campus

Here's another secret: For years, overcrowded county jails have been releasing 9,100 pretrial inmates a month.” Supervisor Henry Perea and SEIU have failed to complain about the hundreds of Juvenile Pretrial Criminals that have been released early from Juvenile Hall. Today’s Juvenile Criminals are as dangerous as Adult Criminals. Isn’t convinient that Juvenile Correctional Officers are also SEIU members. SEIU controls the Fresno Board of Supervisors. Supervisors need to be reminded that they work for taxpayers not union bosses.

Mims public safety priority is NONE!!! Everyone as you seen in the past and until now. She keep on begging for more money to buy new toys and promotes her friends. That were all the money gone too. Mims don't have any type of managment skills to managed her budged and employees. Just December and January $1.2 million to buy 40 new cars and $600,000 to buy tasers. All these un-necessary spending. And again go begging for more money! Layoff COs, released criminals back to our community, so she can buy her toys. COs gave concession to save money and being layoff, instead used that million dollar for that attorney. Mims, Managed your budget the correct way or the BOS will managed it for you. Time to resign as a sheriff, let Chief Dyer manage both agencies and you go back to patrol.

First of all, don't confuse the City and County Government. For all you Mims haters, you have it all wrong. If you believe she wants criminal's on the street, you are mistaken. It is difficult enough running a large law enforcement agency and she did not choose the economy in which she has to run the department.

Why are all Why are all of you complaining?! Can’t any of you look at the bigger picture. Last month the Fresno PD received a grant from the federal government to add police officers and equipment. Rather then adjusting their budget they continued as if it were nothing. Then to add to that they approved a multi-million dollar recreation center for police officers. City council never questioned this move but approved it and now that our budget calls for a decrease in funds due to a decrease in tax revenue you are all complaining because bills can’t get paid? What sort of idiots are you people? Why don’t you donate your money to keep inmates in jail or ask city counsel to cancel the plan to build the “Police training facility” and reallocate the funds. Complain about that.
