The Master Gardener with tips on pruning espalier

This morning on KSEE Sunrise, Master Gardener Carole Grosch showed us how to prune espalier fruit trees. Espalier is a technique of pruning a tree to grow against a wall or fence.

The Master Gardeners are holding a Planting and Pruning Espalier class on Saturday, February 20 from 9:30 a.m. to noon at the Garden of the Sun, 1944 N. Winery Ave., Fresno. Cost is $15. Learn the art of espalier, i.e., how to grow fruit trees in small areas for both landscaping and good eating. See the best way to prune your home orchard to ensure quality fruit and a good harvest. This class will teach you how to fill in and use small narrow spaces to their best advantage.
