A rock climber is now safe after a daring aerial rescue high above Yosemite Valley. Thursday morning rescuers were called into action to hoist the injured climber from the El Capitan Spire. Rescuers rappelled about 80 feet to get to the patient, who was in an alcove about 2,000 feet from the valley floor.
The climber, 48-year-old man from France, sustained injuries to his head and chest in a 65-foot fall. He was flown down to El Capitan Meadow, where he was later transported to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto.
