Schuster trial will move to Los Angeles County
Larissa Schuster's trial is juat a month from getting underway. In that time, attorneys will prepare to move massive files, large exhibits and dozens of witnesses who will be called to testify. They'll travel 206 miles south to Van Nuys in Los Angeles County. Fresno County judge Wayne Ellison made the change of venue location official Thursday. Prosector Dennis Peterson said, "I think it should be a good venue. I think we were all hoping for something a little closer so that we could have people drive to that location, but hopefulyy that's still not out of the question." Those involved in the case knew there were three possible locations to consider--Santa Clara County, San Diego County and Los Angeles County. The defense and prosecution had hoped Santa Clara would work out, so did the defendant. Schuster's attorney Roger Nuttall said his client has friends and relatives in Santa Clara. Judge Ellison told the court Thursday that he visited Santa Clara and the facilities were inadequate for the trial. Late last year Schuster's co-defendant James Fagone was tried in Fresno County for the same crimes. He was convicted for the murder of Timothy Schuster and sentenced to life in prison. To select a jury in Fagone's case, the court went through around 200 potential jurors. The same is expected for Larissa Schuster's trial. The trial will start October 15. It's expected to last between six and eight weeks. |
