Well-known Fresno police dog passes away

Fresno police Chief Jerry Dyer announced the death of one of the department’s most beloved K-9 members, Saxon, who passed away on Wednesday.

Saxon served on the police force for three years until he was shot in the line of duty in August of 2002.

After recovering he retired from his duties with the department.

Those who worked with the Belgian Malinois say they considered him a hero for saving the lives of his fellow officers.

Saxon was 9-and-a-half years old and died of natural causes.

Services for Saxon are pending and when formalized will be
announced to the media.
