The first real blast of cold air for the season is moving across California. Air quality alert in effect for the valley floor due to blowing dust. Wind advisory for the Sierra Nevada until 4am Friday. Same for Highways 58 and 178 in Kern County. Showers are also moving across the state. Scattered showers for the valley floor and snow for higher elevations Friday, possibly lasting into Saturday. Highs on Friday will be in the 50s.
