After a messy breakup, it appears Fresno and the SPCA are working on their relationship. A six-month extension for animal control services is in the works.
The SPCA complained of spending a million dollars of their own money to meet Fresno's animal control needs. City and County officials have said the SPCA euthanizes too many animals.
October 1st was the deadline to transfer animal control services. Fresno officials looked at several different options for a temporary shelter but couldn't come to a decision.
The new deal between the SPCA and Fresno is not final yet. If it's completed, it will be for six months.
