Two men involved in the murder of a Sanger teen were in court Wednesday afternoon. Michael Voravong and Ernie Chanmany were in for arraignment hearings. Both are accused in the death of Sammy Mercado.
Both hearings were postponed for next week. Bail also went up for both men. The D.A.'s office is charging Voravong with murder and Chanmany as an accessory to the murder.
Police say Sammy Mercado was shot and killed in April in front of a marijuana field in south Fresno County. The Sheriff's Department says Chanmany led detectives to a body. KSEE24 talked with the coroner's office, and we have learned they have not identified it yet. Because it has been four months, the office is using D.N.A. evidence to identify the body. They expect to have the results back in four to six weeks.
