(Press Release) The Fresno County Sheriff's Office has announced the arrest of 19-year-old Jesus Arevalo, and 18-year-old Angel Nunez in connection with the July murder of 19-year-old Renato Arevalo of Del Rey.

On July 24th, shortly after 10:00 p.m., CHP & CAL FIRE responded to a vehicle fire in an orchard near the intersection of Adams & Del Rey. After the fire was extinguished, the burned body of Renato Arevalo was discovered in the trunk. Further investigation revealed he had been the victim of murder.

Detectives developed information that led to Wednesday’s arrest of 19-year-old Jesus Arevalo (no relation to Renato Arevalo), at his home located in the 6000 block of S Academy Ave.

Thursday morning, Nunez was arrested by SWAT Team members during the service of a search warrant at his home located in the 6000 block of S Greenwood Ave.

During the search, detectives discovered evidence that directly tied both Arevalo and Nunez to the murder.

Both Arevalo and Nunez were booked into the Fresno County Jail on charges of murder and arson.

The investigation is continuing and more arrests may be made. Anyone with information on this case is asked to contact the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office at 488-3111, or CrimeStopper at 498-STOP(7867).
