A dangerous and very bizarre incident led to several arrests by Fresno County Sheriff's deputies.

It started Saturday at a marijuana grow on Shaw east of Academy. Deputies say several thieves tried to steal numerous plants at the grow. The growers then shot at the thieves to drive them off. No one was hurt.

Deputies say the thieves then called the sheriff's office and reported the assault. Four people were arrested in connection to the incident. Deputies are looking for two more suspects.

Lt. Rick Ko of the Fresno County Sheriff's Office says incidents like these are becoming dangerous trends. "You've got people that are stealing marijuana but don't grow it, but are stealing it themselves... And it's an easy way for them to acquire it, and you have the people protecting it. It's a very dangerous situation for neighborhoods."

SWAT officers secured the location and the marijuana. They say the investigation is ongoing.
