There are over a dozen unclaimed babies at the Fresno County morgue. "Garden of Innocence" is working to give them the love and dignity they never received when they were alive.
The program is donor funded. They receive blankets, toys, and even coffins to lay the children to rest.
Most of the abandoned babies come from hospitals. Some are stillborn and others had parents that simply walked away. Many of them were never given names.
"Garden of Innocence" is planning a ceremony for the children. They will all be given names and read individual poems before being laid to rest.
Mountain View Cemetery is donating the plot. Transferring the remains will not create any cost for the county.
Supervisor Henry Perea is asking the board to approve the project tomorrow.
