(Press Release) Fresno County District Attorney Elizabeth A. Egan has announced that 29-year-old Dejon Andrew Baskin of San Diego has been sentenced to three (3) consecutive Life terms for the attempted murder of his estranged wife Rachel, her mother and her brother on July 16, 2009.
Baskin was also sentenced to two (2) consecutive terms of 25-life for the personal use of a firearm causing great bodily injury, and six additional years for causing great bodily injury under circumstances involving domestic violence and the use of a knife.
He will not be eligible for parole for a minimum of 77 years.
On September 25, 2012, a Fresno County Jury found Baskin guilty of the attempted murders and also found to be true, the special allegations that he used a knife, a firearm and caused great bodily injury to the victims in circumstances involving domestic violence.
District Attorney Egan thanked Deputy District Attorney Lisa Sondergaard for her tireless work, as well as Senior DA Investigator Mario Leal, and the Reedley Police Officers for their hard work in the prosecution and investigation of this case.
DA Egan stated “The successful prosecution of this case would not have been possible without the close working relationship between our domestic violence team, the police officers and the victim advocates.”
