Beheadings of Autistic Child's Therapy Chickens Investigated

J.J. Hart doesn't know what happened to his "ducks" yet. The autistic toddler's parents kept several chickens in their backyard, feathered friends that the Harts credit with helping the 2-year-old to start vocalizing and expressing himself.

The DeBary, Fla., family was fighting local officials over the right to keep the chickens, which the city called a "public nuisance." Although the community sided with the Harts ("My dog is more annoying," one neighbor said), an unspeakably cruel creature killed the chickens over the weekend, slashing all of their heads off.

"I don't know how he's going to react to this," J.J.'s mom, Ashley, said. "I don't know if he is even going to be able to understand."
