Mayor Bloomberg is taking his war on smoking to a new level, proposing a law that would ban city stores from publicly displaying cigarettes or any other tobacco products.
The goal of the proposed Tobacco Product Display Restriction Bill is to reduce the youth smoking rate, Bloomberg said Monday.
"Young people are targets of marketing and the availability of cigarettes, and this legislation will help prevent another generation from the ill-health and shorter life expectancy that comes with smoking,” he said.
