A woman who investigated an oak tree felled by high winds from Superstorm Sunday made a grim discovery - a centuries-old skeleton tangled in the roots.

Yesterday afternoon Katie Carbo was looking at the tree and was stunned to find a skull with its mouth hanging open. She called police to the tree, at Upper Green in New Haven, Connecticut, who say it is likely to have been there since colonial times.
