(Press Release) The Fresno County Sheriff's Office has announced the arrest of 32-year-old Jeff Lee Swetnam of Caruthers, who was wanted in connection with the burglary of Caruthers Elementary School.

Early Tuesday morning, shortly after midnight, deputies were called to the school at 13699 S. Quince Avenue after the alarm company reported a silent alarm and possible break-in to one of the class rooms.

When deputies arrived, a perimeter was set up around the school while Eagle One assisted from above. Eagle One deputies spotted Swetnam attempting to flee the area so they directed ground deputies to his location where he was detained.

During the investigation, deputies were able to determine that a burglary had occurred, and a laptop computer was taken. Swetnam found to be on active parole and had a felony parole warrant for his arrest.

He was later transported to the Fresno County Jail where he was booked on charges of commercial burglary and the felony warrant.
