Police in DeLand, Florida say one of their own was fired after he was caught on camera stealing items from Goodwill while on-duty in May.
The loss prevention manager for Goodwill Industries of Central Florida brought the alleged theft to the department's attention on May 21st.
According to police, the video showed Officer Brice Miller loading items from the back of the Goodwill store into his patrol car.
The items were donations left at the night drop-off location.
Goodwill declined to press charges but requested an internal investigation by the police.
Miller was confronted and said he was given permission by an employee to take the items as long as he was giving it to needy people, police said.
Police said they could not find any evidence that he was told that, and he was put on suspension.
After further investigation, it was recommended that he be terminated.
Miller submitted his resignation Wednesday.
