Virginia Beach police say a mother could face charges after she left her 21-month-old child in her vehicle, which was towed away moments after she stepped inside her apartment.
Police said they were called to apartment complex Wednesday afternoon.
The mother frantically dialed 9-1-1, saying her vehicle and her toddler were missing.
The woman allegedly ran inside of her apartment to quickly grab something while her SUV was parked in a fire lane outside of her home.
When she came back, both the vehicle and little boy were gone.
The SUV and the child ended up in Norfolk.
Police say a tow truck driver with Aristocrat Towing towed the car, which had dark-tinted windows, because it was illegally parked.
The little boy was reunited with his father and was not hurt in the incident.
