A couple who dreamed of adding to their family and decided to adopt, were given a rude awakening when they went to Africa and were arrested on suspicion on child trafficking.
Sol and Christine Moghadam traveled from their home in Irvine, California to Ghana this June to adopt four children who were siblings.
The couple arrived in West Africa in June to receive permission from a judge to become guardians of Stephen, Derrick, Phillis and Illeana before the children were set to be placed in an orphanage.
But after they were granted the legal authorization for guardianship from a local judge, Ghanian police suddenly intervened - arresting the couple on accusations of child trafficking.
Officers accused the couple of forging court documents that were submitted to the judge for the adoptions.
The Moghadams, who already had two boys Ethan and Issac, were forcibly taken from their children and placed in jail. Their two sons and newly adopted children were all placed in a local orphanage.
Even though she was incarcerated, Christine Moghadam was able to update her Facebook page and U.S. authorities were able to intervene.
They were released from jail, reunited with their family and newly adopted children and have since been able to travel back to their California home.
