Two deputies from a Florida county shot and killed a man wanted for impregnating an 11-year-old girl Monday morning at a motel in Pinellas County.

Gregory Johns, 42 was pronounced dead about 5:30 a.m., said Pinellas Sheriff Bob Gualtieri.

Deputies had been searching for Johns when they received information that he was staying in a motel on Madeira Beach or Treasure Island, Gualtieri said.

Deputies Claudio Dimundo and Eric Turner forced their way into Johns' room after he would not come out. When they entered, they didn't see Johns and discovered he was hiding in the bathroom with the door locked, Gualtieri said.

Deputies ordered Johns out but he refused, Gualtieri said.
