Methodist Church Support Groups Begin Fall Sessions
VISALIA-The Methodist Church is ready to begin DivorceCare for adults and DivorceCare for Kids, beginning Monday, February 25 at 6:30 p.m., GriefShare on Wednesday, February 20 and The Big D on Monday, March 4.
DivorceCare™ programs will meet for 13 consecutive Mondays (Feb. 25 – May 20) from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The program for children will be offered in tandem with DivorceCare for adults. Pre-registration is required by calling 627-1660; the cost is $20 for the adult program and $10 for the kids program. Childcare is available upon request.
DivorceCare for Kids is designed to help children deal with the anger, hurt and confusion that come in the wake of a divorce. The program provides a safe, fun place where children can learn to understand their feelings, express emotions appropriately, develop coping skills and feel better about themselves.
The Big D is designed to lead teens through the journey of recovery and find hope in the midst of divorce. This program is filled with many practical high-energy activities and hands-on tools to help teens process their feelings.
The program is video-based, with church members and alumni of the DivorceCare program for adults as leaders.
Many participants have said that the DivorceCare program for adults is “a life-changing experience, bringing hope, faith and healing.” The same is brought to the children – helping them to cope with their parents’ divorce in a safe, neutral and fun environment and helping them to heal.
GriefShare is a weekly seminar and support group for people grieving the death of someone close. It is a place where you can be around people who understand how you feel and the pain of your loss. You’ll learn valuable information that will help you through this difficult time in your life.
GriefShare will meet on Wednesdays beginning February 20 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. A New Daytime session on Thursdays will begin on February 21 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.
All programs, for adults and children, are Biblically based and introduce participants to Biblical concepts that will bring them comfort.
