Fresno Mayor Ashley Swearengin, PG&E and the Energy Commission held a press conference to explain what it's all about. They say the program was created to educate homeowners about how to save money on their energy bills. Representatives will conduct a free 3 to 4 hour survey to find out where your home wastes energy. Mayor Swearengin says the audits will help families save anywhere from $300 to $2,400 per year. So far, more than 2,500 homes in the valley have already received free assessments. More than 900 homes received energy efficiency retrofits as a result of the audits.
