(Press Release) Rep. Jim Costa announced Tuesday the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has awarded over $850,000 to three Valley airports for rehabilitation and renovation of their facilities. Firebaugh Airport, Hanford Municipal, and Delano Municipal were the recipients of the grants that will be used to upgrade their facilities and replace outdated equipment.
“Our regional and municipal airports connect our Valley to cities throughout our state and beyond,” Costa continued. “This grant will create needed jobs and allow these airports to make necessary improvements that will boost capacity and protect the safety of passengers.”
The Hanford Municipal Airport is scheduled to get $393,300 to rehabilitate the taxiway to improve safety and minimize debris, and replace the rotating beacon that has reached the end of its useful life.
The Delano Municipal Airport will receive $300,000 to install a wildlife perimeter fence that will protect the airport from unauthorized and inadvertent entry and wildlife hazards, and rehabilitate existing apron pavement.
The Firebaugh Airport will be getting $164,460 to continue to rehabilitate the taxiway to maintain structural integrity of the pavement.
