July 30, 2012 Updated Jul 30, 2012 at 12:37 PM PDT

The Fresno Fire Department is asking for the public's help in identifying individuals seen near the location of a fire that scorched five acres in north Fresno on July 19th.

The individuals were captured by surveillance cameras in the area of Palm and Nees around 4:00 p.m. Despite an incendiary device being located near the bluffs at this area, the final and exact cause of fire has yet to be determined.

The area which is a cliff/river interface known as the "Bluffs" beginning at Palm/Nees and extending westward is a high fire hazard area due to large amounts of dry vegetation, topography and interface with residential neighborhoods.

Fire officials say it is extremely important for residents to report suspicious activity in this area to the proper authorities. Campfires and recreational 4-wheel drive in this area are strictly prohibited and illegal.

Three years ago a fire disaster occurred in this area due to vegetation which burned the neighborhoods resulting in millions of dollars in fire damage and loss to residents.
