Many charities say they’ve received far fewer Thanksgiving turkeys than in years past. Up until this week, “The Fresno Rescue Mission” only had one.
Organizers point to a bad economy and rising food costs, but the Central Valley’s impoverished will pay the steepest price. Thousands of people are expected to head to food banks on Thanksgiving day.
It would be difficult to work at a charity and not keep hope. Everyone KSEE24 spoke with expressed optimism that Fresno’s more fortunate will come through.
