Hundreds of people packed into a central Fresno church to pay respects to Marquis Sutton.

Funeral services were held at Living Word International Church Thursday morning.

Sutton died from a gunshot wound last week. Police say the Edison High School star was allegedly walking away from a game similar to Russian roulette. Family and friends described a young man with a big smile and a good heart.

"Marquis was a loving person. Marquis always had a smile on that face," said an older sister.

"You delivered a smile to that child and that smile is in heaven now," said a family friend.

Some players from the Edison football team wore their jerseys in solidarity. Sutton's alleged shooter Terrence Lee plead not guilty and is expected in court on Friday for a preliminary hearing.
