It's a sport that continues to grow in popularity and now your kids get involved for free.
Project Free Wheel is taking part at the BMX park at Woodward Park. The camp runs through mid-August. The camp is free from 9:00 a.m. to noon every Monday. Kids can come out and learn about BMX. You can either bring your own bike or there loaner bikes to be used.
Camp organizer Tony Hoffman says, "BMX is a great sport. It's a collegian sport, an Olympic sport. It's a sport where your kids can get involved in and can be nationally ranked, locally ranked, regionally ranked. There's different levels, you don't have to be the best in the world, or be the best in town, but you can compete and stay healthy."
Organizers say the kids must be four years of age and older. The camp does need donations. They are always in need of bikes, helmets or volunteers.
