27-year-old Eddie James Hamilton of Fresno was sentenced Monday to 15 years to life after pleading no contest in the death of 3-month-old Elijah Jerimiah Hamilton.
He was arrested, along with Lashonda Caldera, in April of 2008 in connection to the death of Caldera's baby.
An autopsy revealed the boy died of blunt force trauma. Charges against the mother were eventually dropped.
On November 17, 2011, following a 10-day trial, a Fresno County Jury was unable to reach a unanimous verdict in the case resulting in a hung jury.
