Fresno Police Arrest Man Suspected of Killing His Wife

(Press Release) On Monday night, about t 10:30 p.m., Fresno Police officers were called to a home near Ezie and Dakota for reports of shots fired. Officers spoke with witnesses outside the home who said 34-year-old Daniel Galvan was armed with a firearm and was inside the home. Police surrounded the home and were able to convince Galvan to come out and he was arrested. In a rear bedroom of the house officers found Galvan’s wife, 41-year-old AnnMarie Galvan dead from gunshot wounds to the upper body.

Homicide detectives took over the investigation and learned that Galvan and his wife had been married for 12 years, but they separated November, 2011. About two weeks ago, the couple reunited and began living with family members.

The investigation also revealed past incidents of domestic violence between the them and on March 31st Galvan was arrested for obstructing an officer and for violating a domestic violence restraining order. During that incident, Galvan told the officer that he was a Bulldog and that he would leave his paws wherever he wanted. Galvan was known by family members to use methamphetamine. It is unknown if Galvan was under the influence Monday night but he was tested for drugs.

Police say Galvan has an extensive criminal history which includes drug offenses, and that they were able to recover the weapon used in the shooting. Galvan was booked into the Fresno County Jail on charges of Murder.
