Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer held a press conference Tuesday afternoon to give an update on the workplace shooting at the former Apple Valley Farms where a disgruntled employee opened fire on employees there killing three people including himself.
Chief Dyer confirmed that 42-year-old Lawrence Jones opened fire in the middle of his shift at Valley Protein early Tuesday and shot 32-year-old Salvador Diaz, 34-year-old Manuel Verdin, 28-year-old Arnulfo Conrriquez and 32-year-old Fatima Lopez before fleeing and shooting himself in the head.
Diaz and Verdin were each shot in the head and died from their injuries. Conrriquez, who was shot in the neck and Lopez, who received a shot in the buttocks, are both recovering at Community Regional Medical Center.
Jones, who has an extensive criminal history, is a discharged parolee. Dyer said an investigation at his home turned up a sizable amount of ammunition but not much else.
