A man is in the hospital and is listed in critical condition, after he is tased and shot by Fresno Police.
Fresno Police say it happened at around 7:30 p.m., Thursday. Two officers were patrolling the area of Saginaw and Fruit Avenues as part of a gang operation, following 2 shootings that recently took place just one block away. Police say the officers tried talking to the man and to a woman he was with when the man walked in front of oncoming traffic. Police say the officers tried to detain him when he ran off. That's when the officers tased him two times, but it didn't work. Police say the suspect ran off again, when he pulled a gun out of his front pocket. One of the officers fired at him one time, hitting him in the lower back. The suspect then threw the gun into the street. The suspect was taken to the hospital where he is listed in critical condition. Police say the suspect is a 32-year-old ex-felon. They have not yet released his identity.
This is the 7th officer involved shooting in Fresno so far this year.
