A fed-up father in China made an unusual move to get his unemployed son to stop playing video games: He hired hitmen to assassinate his son’s character — literally.
The father, identified as Mr. Feng by the video game blog Kotaku.com, said his 23-year-old had been obsessed with online role-playing games since high school. His habit was so consuming he brought home poor grades and later, couldn't even hold a real job — at a software development company, no less.
That’s when he reportedly went on a mission to get his gamer son to take control of his life.
Feng said he hired other players for an undisclosed fee to hunt down the young man’s avatar in his favorite online games, repeatedly killing him each time he logged on.
But once the younger Feng found out, he shrugged off the virtual assassinations.
