California lawmakers are pushing for more gun control. A new bill would ban guns that have easily detachable magazines. It would also ban guns that have "bullet button" technology which helps the shooter reload quicker. This bill has the backing of the Attorney General and other top democrats.
One gun store owner calls the bill "ridiculous" and says it would make hundreds of thousands of guns illegal. A representative with Peace Fresno says the bill is a small step in making California safer.
"They're not even talking about controlling what they're talking about is making it hard to reload," said Dan Yaseen of Peace Fresno.
"What our legislature is trying to do is take an event that is happening in another state and use it to further suppress decent law abiding people in this state under the lie they're doing something about crime," said Bill Mayfield of Gilmay Guns.
The bill still has to pass in both houses and must be signed by Governor Brown.
