California gun sales have gone way up this year. In fact, we're on pace to set a new record.
The State Department of Defense says we're on track to sell over 700,000 guns this year. That's almost twice as many as we did five years ago.
Many people think the election year has something to do with it. Back in 2008, we also saw gun sales spike.
There's also increasing concern about rising crime and the early prisoner release program.
Although overall gun sales are up, the number of people that own guns is going down. The people that are buying firearms are predominantly previous gun owners.
