Valley Braves Five Straight Days of Blistering Heat

A number of cooling centers in the valley will be open this week:

In Fresno, Cooling centers will be open on Monday July 9-13th, from noon to 8:00 p.m. at these locations:
Ted C. Wills Community Center , 770 N. San Pablo
Frank H. Ball Neighborhood Center, 760 Mayor
Mosqueda Community Center, 4670 E. Butler
Pinedale Community Center , 7170 N. San Pablo.

The City of Merced is opening its Cooling Center Tuesday through Thursday, as the region is expected to experience a heat wave reaching temperatures of 106 degrees.

The Cooling Center will be open from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Sam Pipes Room located on the first floor of the Merced Civic Center, 678 W. 18th Street. The Center will be staffed by the Parks and Recreation Department.

Prior to the opening of the City Cooling Center people can seek shelter from the heat in the Merced County Library, 2100 O Street.
